Research and Development in IT-Farm

TECNOLOGÍA & VITAMINAS S.L.  inaugurated in July 2013 a pig farm the latest technology in response to their concerns in research, development and innovation.

The farm has capacity of 320 animals, being able to test from weaning to sacrifice, even with breeding sows. The transition area (with automatic environmental control) comprises 16 pens with capacity for 20 piglets/pen; for the fattening stage has three rooms (with natural ventilation), with 8 pens per room with a capacity of 13 pigs/pen. The farm has five silos and a sophisticated power system with two machines, which allows distributing four types of feed at each stage, avoiding the risk of cross contamination and recording daily consumption of each pen. This feeding system, the disposal of two balances (one in pen and an individual one) and an ultrasound scanner to make measurements of fat and muscle, permits the realization of different trials on both from weaning to slaughter or sows:

Evaluation of different diets in piglets and fattening period

Development of new vitamin and mineral premixes and functional supplements

Study of feeding plans in fattening optimized for each genetic (modeling)

The main objective of the farm is to contribute with integrity to R+D+i  in TECNOVIT
