MYCOTOXINS

Mycotoxins are toxic metabolites produced by different fungi types. They contaminate raw material and feed, targeted at animal nutrition, causing a variety of lesions in susceptible organs or altering production parameters of the farm (reproductive efficiency decrease, growth and weight gain reduction, conversion increase).

Although there are a lot of kinds of mycotoxins, Aflatoxin, Ochratoxin A, Zearalenone, Fuminosin B1, DON or Vomitoxin, T-2 toxin are those mostly found in raw materials for animal nutrition.

Mycotoxins are not evenly distributed in raw materials or feed, so that their correct detection depends on the quality and quantity of the sample delivered to the laboratory for the analysis.

The use of a Mycotoxin binder is one of the solutions currently available. The adsorbents have a specificity against one or more types of different mycotoxins.

 Micocid RS application in animal nutrition acts on different levels according to the properties of its components:
1. - Clinoptilolite, bentonite and sepiolite: are mineral adsorbing agents of the group of clays with high capacity of mycotoxin adsorption. 
2.- Milk thistle seeds (Sylibum marianum). Because of its main component, silymarin, it acts as a potent antioxidant of liver cells and increases their ability to regenerate.
3.- Mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) and β-glucans: are useful because of their immune system stimulation power, non-specific of the animal.
